It’s lights out for the falcons

As some of the more observant viewers have no doubt noticed by now, we’ve got issues with infrared lighting at night, or lack thereof. We’re climbing the tower tomorrow (Thursday) to check the current IR illuminator and if it’s dead a new unit has been ordered but won’t be here until earliest next week, so we’re hoping that everyone up the water tower can cross their legs until then! Best case scenario tomorrow is that the power adapter just needs to be plugged in again. What a time in the season to lose night lighting!!

  1. Gosh – hope it’ll be an easy fix. The night-light was doing a weird flicker for a couple of nights before it went out altogether.

On the positive side, at least there are no eggs yet! imagine how awful it would’ve been if the egg-sitting was already underway!

  2. Hmm, it’s still very flickery – or is that my computer? What a relief to see the light though! Thank you for doing the big trek up the tower 🙂

  3. Thanks for fixing it. Let’s hope it stays this way now, it’s not the time to disturb the falcons. I think egg watch is in order.
Diamond looked “pregnant” a few days ago and now she is sitting in the scrape in that typical posture. 😉

  4. Congratulations all! Diamond delivered her first egg at 05.44 local time and Xavier was present, encouraging her. 😀

  5. Congratulations on the first egg of Diamond and Xavier!!
I couldn’t watch the camera in the daytime today, and I see it now!! Wow!! I’m so happy!!

  6. Gee whiz! I turn my back for a weekend and an egg arrives! How exciting 🙂 Let the good times begin! I do hope the night-light will last the distance…

  7. thanks for all the comments. I’ve put up a new thread for the new egg. I had a busy weekend too, so missed all the action. And I’m in Brisbane from Thursday for 5 nights; I have a volunteer sitting in, but we might miss the 3rd egg (I should be able to record the 2nd). And I can do the third when I get back as we have much greater storage now than we used to.
