There’s a definite feel of spring in the air and I heard the first cuckoo this morning (a fantailed).
There has been a major change in the behaviour of our pair in the last month or so. Gimbir has bringing in serious prey-gifts, sometimes several times a day. He seems to be learning that offering unplucked starling is not really up to scratch! Mating has been occurring on the tower three or four times a day, apart from in bad weather, and there has been lots of bonding and nest scraping.
I expect eggs by the end of August, or perhaps a little later.
Diamond is very happy with this crested pigeon this morning.
