Thanks to everyone who voted… There were over 1300 votes. The older chick is to be called Indigo and the younger sibling Rubus. The third egg did not hatch unfortunately. Here are the final results.
NOTE that the Google poll has disappeared from my google forms account, so I can’t close it (one of those Google glitches I guess), but the voting has been finalised.
Here is a video that shows that both chicks do eventually get fed, even though the older chick gets fed first. The mother’s job is to ensure the strongest chick(s) survive, so that it is a common strategy. At this site, we have never had a prey shortage, so al the chicks do eventually get fed.
