The first hatch was confirmed at 0927 h this morning, Saturday 1st October. The chick had been heard calling since yesterday afternoon, but no pip (small hole made by the chick itself with its special tooth) was observed until after 0800 h. So a very fast hatch – they can take a couple of days or longer.
There are two more eggs. If these are viable, we should see pips in them as well very soon and hatching within a day or two.
