Clean up time

As some of you are already aware, Scott and I cleaned the nest-box yesterday.  We tried to do it on Tuesday, but the tower was swaying in the wind and we thought better of the idea.

We removed about 7 bags of soiled gravel and put in fresh.  This entailed two trips up and down with back packs…. We also cleaned the camera.  I didn’t realise how dirty they were until they were cleaned!     There was no down time, except for the peregrines, who were not at all happy about the activity, although they have not been using the box as much recently.     Swift was back in the box in just over an hour after we finished and Beau was not far behind (but was chased out pretty quickly).

Here are some happy snaps of the event.  Scott took some photos of the view from the top on the splendid day, so will put those up when I get them from Scott.  We were also able to open the window on the opposite side – very stiff.   This will give us a better view of the whole area.

  1. All becomes clear – you didn’t drop the floor level, you just put in less gravel! Many thanks for the update and the photos, especially the one of Swift showing her appreciation! It’s good to see such a well looked after pair of peregrines.
