The female is indeed now the main nest-sitter and the male will disappear for hours; he’s letting the side down in stocking the fridge! We’ve seen a couple of moments today where the female just flew away to catch some lunch and would be back in the nest within minutes, eating voraciously and chewing up small bites for her chick. An entire deceased starling is out of site of the camera; maybe dessert for later on… The eyas has now opened its eyes and is more aware, after a few good feeds, but still can’t hold its head up too well.
No sign of external life from the second egg yet. There’s still a chance as the mum is keeping it warm, next to her first-born.
