We still have our Girri

On Wednesday and Thursday, I was able to catch both adults and Girri around the campus. The adults, Diamond and Gimbir were on the tower and Girri was down on the old yellow box roost trees some 300 m from the tower.

The average number of days from fledging to dispersal at this site is 130, but if you exclude Izzi , who hung around for 263 days, finally leaving in August 2021, the average is 108. This is longer than might be expected from the literature (more like 60 days). Girri has been with us for 57, so could be here at least another month. However, assuming that she is now able to hunt for herself, she could leave us anytime.
