On Saturday 11th April, local Aboriginal people (Wiradjuri Nation), assisted by the Rural Fire Service, lit a fire in the woods just opposite the water tower (after recent removal of the pines). The aim was to clear the weeds and hopefully germinate some native understorey plants in the area. The birds took off for most of the afternoon, although Swift did at least one fly past to keep an eye on the happenings. There was quite a bit of smoke in the box after a wind change, but the birds were back in the box before light the following morning.
