With the middle of summer in full swing and the cicadas & crickets filling the hot dry air with sound (combined with the din of the construction work going on below!) the roost is a safe, quiet and relatively cool place for the falcons who have all taken their turns resting and recovering from the heat. The other day mum was seen in the nest checking it out, with almost a “preparedness” about her (?). She seemed very interested in the walls, the gravel and making space for herself. The cobwebs are starting to appear and it will need a clean-out soon. Design work is underway for a replacement roost for this coming season and a carefully detailed list of procedures to uninstall and reinstall the box and cameras etc is being written up.
